I have done a couple articles in the past about Kodi’s latest version 18.0 called Leia. But Kodi 18.0 Leia has only been officially released as an Alpha version. This means that there are still some major developments that need to be made to make it ready for a full release. Learn how to install the Alpha version of Kodi 18.0 Leia in my article How to Install the Kodi 18 “Leia” Beta.
An Alpha version is fine if you are a developer, or if you just want to check out the look and feel of the new version and just can’t wait. But if you want to use Kodi 18.0 Leia to watch streaming media, you will be disappointed. As of this writing, although you can install the Alpha version of Kodi 18.0 Leia, you can’t really install any builds or anything because Kodi has disabled the zip extraction function in the Alpha. Installing a build requires the ability to extract the downloaded zip file. So, in effect, the Alpha version of Kodi 18.0 Leia is not functional for daily use.
But there is an alternative. Wonderbox.tv Media Center is a fork of Kodi. This means it is based off of the same code and contains the same functionality as Kodi. And, luckily, it seems as if the folks over at Wonderbox.tv have a real working version that is based off of Kodi 18.0 Leia. All the builds I have tested install fine and everything seems to work flawlessly.
So, if you are ready to make the move to Kodi 18.0 Leia, Wonderbox.tv is currently the best option. One of the things I like a lot about using Wonderbox.tv is that I can install it along-side my normal Kodi 17.6 install and not affect its functionality at all. Wonderbox.tv installs as a totally separate application.
Your IP is: 126.96.36.199 - Secure Your ConnectionStop your ISP and your government from spying on your activity. Use a VPN to protect your privacy. A VPN is an essential tool when you are using any free or low-cost streaming application or service. Especially if you are using a jailbroken Fire TV or Fire Stick or Android box. ALWAYS use a VPN if you want the best streaming experience, the best selection of media and don't want your ISP to slow you down or shut you down. I recommend IPVanish VPN for all my clients and I use it on all my devices.

Now that you have your connection secured, let’s get on with the installation of Wonderbox.tv.
UPDATE: Wonderbox.tv is now available for download and installation from the KodiAmerica.com Jailbreak App Vault. For help installing, read this article.
I will be using the Downloader App for Amazon Fire TV to do this install. If you don’t already have this app installed, please install it using my tutorial How to Install the Downloader app on Fire TV Devices.
Once you have the Downloader App installed, you will want to open it and type the following URL in the address area of the application. https://bit.ly/2LdLJQQ
Click Go and Wonderbox will start to download.
When the download completes, it will automatically start the install process. You will be asked if you want to install it.
Choose INSTALL and Wonderbox will start installing.
When the Install is finshed, you will be asked if you want to open it. For now, just click DONE
You will be taken back to the Downloader App where it is waiting for your input. You will want to delete the file at this point so it doesn’t take up any space on your device. You will also be asked to confirm that you want to delete it.
Now long-press the home button on the remote and choose Apps on the screen that appears
You will see that Wonderbox has installed. Go ahead and move it to the top so you can access it easier in the future.
Now, click on the Wonderbox icon to open it. You will see a splash screen that shows this is version 18.0 Leia Alpha 1
Then you will be presented with a very familiar Kodi-like home screen with the Estuary skin.
From this point, you can do anything you could do in Kodi 17.6 including installing builds, apps, etc. To get started, check out the articles below.
Always use a VPN when you are connecting to the Internet. This is especially true when you are using Kodi, Wonderbox, Terrarium TV, Morpheus, Mobdro, or any other streaming apps. Using apps like those can put you in a sort of legal gray area and it’s better to be safe than sorry. A VPN not only protects you from hackers, etc., but also it protects you from the “good guys” like your ISP and your government who also love to keep track of your behavior. I always recommend IPVanish, and have gotten permission from the folks over at IPVanish to offer you a whopping 57% discount on IPVanish VPN service.
I hope you have a great experience testing out Kodi/Wonderbox 18.0 Leia Alpha 1. You can see that the Kodi team, and particularly the Wonderbox team are working on some great new features as well as making a lot of performance improvements over 17.6 Krypton.
