Watch FIFA World Cup Soccer in 4K on BBC iPlayer with a VPN

Watch FIFA World Cup Soccer in 4K on BBC iPlayer with a VPN

There are a few good places to watch Live FIFA World Cup Soccer 2018.  I already wrote an article to show you how to use Mobdro to watch it on your Fire TV or Fire Stick.  Watch FIFA World Cup Soccer 2018 LIVE for FREE on Fire TV Devices.  But if you want the ultimate in high-definition football action, then the BBC is offering super high-resolution 4K and HDR streams to it’s UK customers.  There are a limited number of slots available for each match, and it’s sort of a first-come-first-served type of situation.  The BBC states that each game will be limited to “tens of thousands” of iPlayer enabled devices. They also say that to enjoy the optimum experience, you will need a 40 megabit per second (Mbit/s) internet connection.  That is faster than most households have access to. In order to get access, you must be one of the first users to click on the FIFA World Cup 2018 match on the home screen just after each stream starts. And you can only access BBC iPlayer content if you are inside the UK. Right? Well, that isn’t exactly correct.  Using a VPN, you can make BBC iPlayer think you are in the UK.  It’s simple, and I’m going to show you how to do it.

Your IP is: 54.82.79.137

Secure Your Connection

Stop your ISP and your government from spying on your activity.  Use a VPN to protect your privacy.  A VPN is an essential tool when you are using any free or low-cost streaming application or service.  Especially if you are using a jailbroken Fire TV or Fire Stick or Android box.

ALWAYS use a VPN if you want the best streaming experience, the best selection of media and don't want your ISP to slow you down or shut you down.  I recommend IPVanish VPN for all my clients and I use it on all my devices.

The BBC iPlayer app does not work very well on Fire TV or Fire Stick, as the app is not designed to be used with the remote control. And only the Fire TV offers 4K streaming. But with a PC or on a browser, you can have the full experience.  There are ways to hack around it by installing Mouse Toggle for Fire TV, but the experience is not the greatest.  If you have a Smart TV that has a compatible iPlayer app, or any other Android device, the installation is much easier and you can skip over the installation instructions here.   I’m just going to stick to showing you how to do this in your browser.

Access BBC iPlayer

The main component to this is the BBC iPlayer.  BBC iPlayer is available in different formats for different operating systems and platforms.  But all platforms and operating systems that have a Web browser can access BBC iPlayer that way.  You can access BBC iPlayer by going to https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer.

The first thing you will want to do is to create an account.  At the top left of the page, you will see the Sign In area.  Click on this to go to the sign in page.  Here, you can sign in if you already have an account, but for this tutorial, we will create a new account.

Go through the screens and sign up like you would any other site.

Enter your email address, etc.  I put that I lived in the UK.  Not sure if that matters or not. I grabbed a postcode from the Internet to make it official, I guess.

 Now you are successfully registered.

I like to use the TV Guide view.  From this view, all the programming is just a click away.

The only problem is that unless you are in the UK, the content is blocked.

This is one of the best examples of what I talk about so often.  And a VPN is the best tool to get around this.  Take a look at my article What is a VPN? Why do I need it? to learn more about the technical mechanism behind this.  If you don’t want to read the article, the bottom line is that a VPN removes geographical restrictions from content by making it appear as if you are in the country the content is restricted to.  So, we need to make the BBC think we are in the UK.

Install Nord VPN

Nord VPN is the best solution for unlocking geo-restricted content such as BBC iPlayer.  This is particularly useful in this article, as we are talking about FIFA World Cup Football.  Since the BBC will be broadcasting the matches live and in UHD/HDR, you will want to access this content.  We have negotiated a great discount on Nord VPN service for our readers.  Click here to take advantage of this limited time offer. Nord VPN has apps that are compatible with ALL your devices.  Simply install Nord VPN on your device or computer by downloading the appropriate app or program from their site after signing up.

Choose your Geographic Location

Once you have Nord VPN installed and you are logged in.  You will be able to choose which country you want to use.  Simply choose a server in the UK, and click Connect.  You will be connected to the VPN.  After connecting, go back into BBC iPlayer and try playing the content again.  You will now see that the content is unblocked.

Now you are all set to watch FIFA World Cup Football 2018 on BBC iPlayer.  You won’t find better quality streams anywhere.  Just remember you need a VPN to bypass the geo-restricted content if you are not inside the UK. And, don’t forget that we have an exclusive discount just for you, our KodiAmerica.com readers.  Click here to take advantage of this now.
