How to Watch Free Live TV on Amazon Firestick

We all know that there are tons of movies and TV series available from various apps you can install on your Fire TV devices.  But getting reliable live TV can be a challenge.  CKayTV, which used to be a great free solution has now started charging folks for a subscription.  It seems that most of the better app developers tend to monetize their apps as soon as they see they have a great app.  Other apps use advertising to help with the development cost of the app.  Either way, trying to find an easy, reliable solution for your live TV needs can be a challenge.

One of the best apps out there at the moment for live TV is Mobdro.  Mobdro has consistently been my top pick for live TV.  One of the huge drawbacks to using Mobdro is that it has ads.  This would not normally be a big issue, but the ads in Mobdro are huge and obtrusive.  Luckily, the ads are easily blocked using a strong ad-blocker such as Blokada.

Stop your ISP and your government from spying on your activity.  Use a VPN to protect your privacy.  A VPN is an essential tool when you are using any free or low-cost streaming application or service.  Especially if you are using a jailbroken Fire TV or Fire Stick or Android box.  ALWAYS use a VPN if you want the best streaming experience, the best selection of media and don't want your ISP to slow you down or shut you down.  I recommend IPVanish VPN for all my clients and I use it on all my devices.

Recently, I started using an app called Live NetTV.  It has immediately become one of my top picks for live TV.  The streams available are reliable and high-quality.  The streams start streaming quickly and are very solid.  The number one drawback with Live NetTV as with Mobdro is that it is ad-driven.  While the ads in Live NetTV are much more like YouTube ads and therefore a little less intrusive than the full-screen game ads that you find in Mobdro.

The good news is that you can use the same awesome ad-blocking app Blokada to remove all the ads and make using Live NetTV a much more pleasant experience.  If you want to learn how to install Blokada, you can follow my tutorial How to Block Ads on Amazon Fire TV Devices.

How to Install Live NetTV

First, verify that your VPN is connected. This is to be sure that your connection is secure and running at full-speed.

For this tutorial, I will be installing Live NetTV from the KodiAmerica.com Jailbreak App Vault.  If you don’t have the App Vault installed, you can learn how in my article How to Install the Kodiamerica.com Jailbreak App Vault.  Once you get that installed, continue on with the tutorial.

Click on the icon for the KodiAmerica.com Jailbreak App Vault.  It will be in your apps and the icon looks like this.

If you have already been using the KodiAmerica.com Jailbreak App Vault, then my code will already be entered into the code field.  Check to be sure it is correct, and if it isn’t, then enter the code 47356537

Once you are sure the code is correct, press CONTINUE to enter the KodiAmerica.com Jailbreak App Vault.

You will see Live NetTV on the list. Click on the download icon and Live NetTV will begin downloading.

You can see the download progress.

When the download has completed, the download icon changes to an install icon.  Click on the install icon to begin installing Live NetTV.

You will be shown the list of permissions that Live NetTV requires.  Scroll down until you see the option to install and click Install

Live NetTV will begin installing

When Live NetTV is finished installing, select Done and click on it.

You will be back at the Jailbreak App Vault apps list screen again.  Press the back button on your Fire TV remote to exit out of the app list screen.  You will be asked if you want to leave.  Click Yes

Click the back button again to completely exit the KodiAmerica.com Jailbreak App Vault.  Press the home button on your remote to go back to the home screen of your Amazon Fire TV device.  Then long-press the home button again like you did before and choose apps.  Let’s go back to the apps screen and look for Live NetTV.  It will most likely be at the bottom of the list because you installed it last.

Go ahead and click on the icon for Live NetTV and let’s take a quick look at this app.  When you first open it, you will see the Live NetTV splash screen for a few seconds.

Then you will be notified that you will be spied on basically if you use this app.  Don’t worry.  Your VPN and ad-blocker will protect your privacy. Click Continue.

Live NetTV will begin building the home screen.

When it is finished, you will see all the channels available to you and different tabs that sort the channels into different categories.

At the top left of the screen, you will see a menu button.  Click it to open the menu.

One of the exciting features of Live NetTV, is that it also offers Video-On-Demand or VOD.  This is a feature that is similar to other great apps such as Stremio, CyberFlix TV, BeeTV, TeaTV, Morph TV, etc.  So, in addition to viewing live channels, Live NetTV is also a great solution for watching on-demand content.  In testing, these streams started up very quickly and streamed with no buffering.  Even on a very slow Internet connection.

When you stream any media from Live NetTV, you will be asked what player to use.  Live NetTV supports tons of different players.  You can also set the default player in the settings which I will get to in a second.

Let’s take a look at some of the settings available to customize your Live NetTV experience.  In the main menu, select Settings and you will be presented with the main settings screen.

One of the first settings I change is the Receive Notifications setting.  I turn this off because I don’t want any notifications.

Then I go down and choose which player I want to use by default.

Change this setting from Always Ask, to whichever player you like. I like MX Player.

I also like to filter out which countries I want content from.  Choose Hide Countries to select which countries you want to show or hide content from.

You can also show/hide categories of content as well.  For instance, if you don’t like the news, then you can hide that from the home screen.

I also find it handy to change the category that is selected when Live NetTV is started up.  This makes it easier to get right to the content that you enjoy.

Feel free to mess around with some of the unique settings that are available in Live NetTV.  Live NetTV is super customizable and you can tweak it to be just how you like it.

Conclusion

Live NetTV is one of the best streaming apps available today.  It not only provides you with hundreds of live TV channels, but it also works great as a Video-On-Demand application where you can watch all the on-demand content you crave.  The interface is intuitive and easy to navigate.  With the minor drawback of being ad-supported, this is very likely a near-perfect app.
